Frisco, Texas

http://inklingsandyarns.com/root.php The Lone Star State was the next stop on our trip across country. Frisco, Texas was voted as one of the friendliest small towns in America and the Rogue Riders were eager to introduce us to the friendly locals.

We started off our day ice-skating at The Ice at the Stonebriar Centre. Ice-skating is not my forte and luckily the other co-host Gary was on the same level.  Team Rogue Riders were naturals on the ice and I appreciated Jennifer Jordon skating with me for a few laps in the beginning to get comfortable. During our skating  endeavor, Ashley Raymond, the daughter of Gary’s long time friend, skated circles around us. Raymond, who placed third overall in the US Junior Nationals, had many skills that she tried to teach the group. Once we discovered we would never in a million years be able to master them, it was time to head to our next stop.

We transitioned from being graceful on the ice to displaying the need for speed: indoor karting at Pole Position Raceway. We put the pedal to the metal and enjoyed a few laps around the track. The Rogue Riders were very pleased to learn they placed first and second overall in the race.

To conclude our night in friendly, Frisco, the crew visited the Frisco Fire Department, where the fire men and women cooked us dinner at the station. We toured the department and learned how the firefighters are not only involved in the community, but also in educating their youth. There are several stations at the fire house geared towards teaching young students the importance of fire safety.  It was amazing to be able to end our night hanging out with these heroes. Before we left, the firefighters placed their sticker on the outside of our RV as honorary members of our crew. Although they will not be traveling with us, their hospitality and kindness earned them a spot in our hearts.
